The Sibillini Mountains owened their name to Queen Sibilla, a mythical prophetess and sorceress who lived during the Roman era (3rd century BC). Early writings about her date back to the Middle Ages, particularly the early 1400s, when tales described her dwelling in a mysterious grotto deep within the mountains. From this enchanted cave, a magical spring still flows today, its waters said to possess a purity that captivates all who taste it. Legend holds that drinking from the Sibilla Spring imparts a sense of well-being and purity, transforming every sip into a fascinating experience tied to the mystique of the mountain queen.
